History 2.55 Chanel Bag
The Chanel 2.55 is a luxury leather handbag or purse manufactured by the fashion house of Chanel.

In the 1920s, Coco Chanel became tired of having to carry her handbags in her arms and decided to design a handbag that freed up her hands.

Inspired by the straps found on soldiers' bags she added thin straps and introduced the resulting design to the market in 1929.

After her successful comeback to the fashion industry in 1954, Chanel desided to update her handbag, for the modern women.

The resulting design was called 2.55 after the date of creation, February 1955.

Featyres

The bag has a number of features:

The lining's burgundy colour represents 

the colour of the uniforms at the convert where she grew up.

There is a zippered comprartment at the inside of the front flap.

That is where Chanel is rumoured to have stored her love letters in her original bag.

The backside has a back outside flap for storage of money.

Chanel recognising that the modern women needed 

to have their hands free while attending 

social functions designed a double chain shoulder strap,

 something common in downmarket products, but rare in luxury circles at the time. 

The chains were attached by leather-threaded chain inserted though eyelets.

The caretakers of the covent she grew up at hold 

the keys at their waist dangling 

from the same type of chains as the 2.55 shoulder strap chains.

The bag originally came with a front lock called

 "the Mademoiselle Lock"

(in refence to Coco Chanel never marrying).

Since the 1980s , 

versions can also be supplied with a lock in the shape of a double CC logo. 

These called "Classic Flaps".

The bag has a quilted diamond of herringbone pattern on the exterior.

Using a running stitch, this gives the bag shape and volume.

The pattern is believed to have been ispired by several sourced: 

by jockeys' riding coats, the stained-glass windows of the abbey at Aubazine, 

as well as by the cushions in Chanel's Paris apartment.

Το εσωτερικό σημείο της τσάντας με το φερμουάρ παραπέμπει σε εκείνο όπου η Coco έκρυβε τα ερωτικά της γράμματα,
καθώς είχε εκείνη την εποχή μια ερωτική σχέση. 
H σκουρόχρωμη κόκκινη εσωτερική επένδυση αντιπροσωπεύει το χρώμα της στολής που φορούσε η Coco και τα υπόλοιπα παιδιά στο ορφανοτροφείο. 
Tον Φεβρουάριο του 2005, ο Karl Lagerfeld ξανασχεδίασε την 2.55,βασιζόμενος απόλυτα στο αρχικό σχέδιο της Coco και ήταν ένας φόρος τιμής στα πεντηκοστά της γενέθλια. 
Πρακτικά,το όνομα Reissue πρέπει να χρησιμοποιείται μόνο για τις τσάντες εκείνες που επανασχεδιάστηκαν με βάση την πρωτότυπη, το 2005.

Kάποιες διαφορές μεταξύ των δύο είναι πως η κλασική εκδοχή έχει στο κούμπωμα το λογότυπο CC και οι αλυσίδες έχουν επιπροσθέτως δερμάτινη πλέξη, 
ενώ η Reissue έχει το κούμπωμα σε ορθογώνιο σχήμα,με αλυσίδα στην κλασική εκδοχή.

H κλασική βγαίνει σε τρία σχήματα (small, medium και jumbo), 

σε απόχρωση chaviar και οι τιμές κυμαίνονται περίπου από:
€985, €1.050 και €1.116 αντίστοιχα. 
Για τη Reissue 2.55, υπολογίστε €1.182 (για την Baby), €1.249 (για τη small), 
€1.314 (για τη Medium), €1.380 (για τη Large) και €2.495 (για την X-Large ή Jumbo) που είναι σπάνια.

Chanel: Reissue 2.55

Iστορία: Eίναι η αυθεντική εκδοχή της τσάντας που έφτιαξε η ίδια η Coco γνωστή και ως Mademoiselle Lock,δεδομένου ότι η Coco Chanel δεν παντρεύτηκε ποτέ.
Tο κούμπωμα της τσάντας, με το λογότυπο CC,παρουσιάστηκε από τον Karl Lagerfeld τη δεκαετία του 1980.
O αριθμός 2.55 παραπέμπει στο λανσάρισμά της,που έγινε τον Φεβρουάριο του 1955. Εμπνευση της Coco Chanel για τη συγκεκριμένη τσάντα αποτέλεσε το ορφανοτροφείο όπου μεγάλωσε. 
H διπλή αλυσίδα που συγκρατεί την τσάντα στον ώμο είναι πανομοιότυπη με την αλυσίδα που συγκρατούσε τα κλειδιά των επιτηρητών.
